The most important part of a trip is its planning. Before settling on a destination, the best thing to do is to understand what you need in order to go there. Here are some tips for you to bear in mind when planning a trip:
- International tickets: depending on where you want to travel to, travel tickets might be the most expensive part of the trip. Despite the cheaper experience provided by Worldpackers, you’ll need to spare a fair amount of money for the ticket, in case you decide to go somewhere distant. Right from the start of your planning, check how much the tickets cost and think of alternative ways to get to your destination, such as flying to a close town to spend less and going to your final destination by train, bus or shared ride.
- Visas and other documents: It’s important to know that the objective of Worldpackers’ trips is to share and exchange culture. Each country has specific visa rules and laws; so it's important to check your embassy’s or consulate’s website for detailed information. It is the traveler’s responsibility to check these requirements. Talk with fellow travelers in our community, in your country, and with who has already confirmed with that host! They surely will have great tips for you :)
3. Cost of living: you already know how to arrive at your destination, and that your host will offer you accommodation and possibly other benefits. But, in order to make the most of the city's tourist spots, enjoy parties and nearby towns and, above all, guarantee your daily meals, it’s important to learn about the local cost of living. This way, you can save money to enjoy your trip and even buy some nice souvenirs!
Write everything down in a travel diary and plan before confirming with the host! You can end up changing the destination or even the dates and it can be hard to deal with unexpected situations during your trip.
