Worldpackers Reviews Policy
Reviews are extremely important to help our travelers and hosts understand what it's like to experience a specifc project or travel with a specific traveler, and they also help us regulate our community and ensure we're offering great experiences for everyone. In this article, you'll learn everything about this essential tool:

How does the review process work?
Both the host and the volunteer have 14 days to write their review after the end date of the experience on the platform, and to keep reviews as honest and transparent as possible, the comment will only become visible on profiles once both parties have written their review, or 14 days after the end of the collaborative exchange. This system was created to prevent “revenge reviews” and to help travelers and hosts feel comfortable sharing their honest opinions about the experience.

Review Content Policy
For a review to fulfill its purpose of helping those involved grow, it must follow these rules:
- Be written politely and avoid personal, political, ethnic, and/or religious offenses. At Worldpackers, there is no room for any type of discrimination, whether based on gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or ability;
- Not contain profanity, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or explicitly sexual, abusive, derogatory, or aggressive comments;
- The review space should be used to talk about the experience you had. If you'd like to make yourself available to clarify or share more details about your point of view, make sure the review is grounded in the experience before doing so. A review may not consist solely of an invitation to contact other community members.
- Not share details of private conversations without having obtained permission from the person you were talking to;
- Not share personal data (your own or someone else's – such as email, address, phone number, among others);
- Do not make criminal accusations presented as conclusive facts without evidence. Criminal accusations can be interpreted as defamation and may have legal implications for those involved, negatively exposing both parties. If you experienced a situation involving safety concerns during your collaborative exchange, please contact our support team so that appropriate action can be taken. Reviews containing this type of content may be removed from the platform — but keep in mind that every report is reviewed and logged internally by our team, even when the content can't be made publicly available. This way, we continue taking all necessary steps to keep the Worldpackers community safe for everyone.
Reviews that don't comply with our Review Content Policy may be removed from the platform. If this happens, we will reach out to let you know about the removal.
Coercing, intimidating, extorting, threatening, encouraging, or manipulating another person in an attempt to influence a review — such as promising compensation in exchange for a positive review or threatening retaliation for a negative one — is not allowed. If this happens, please report it to our support team immediately so appropriate action can be taken.
The platform reserves the right to edit or remove reviews that violate this policy. In cases involving improper sharing of personal data, Worldpackers may make targeted edits to remove identifiable information — such as names, contact details, or documents. Outside of these cases, the substantive content of the review will not be altered. The recognized violation categories subject to removal are: (i) inappropriate language; (ii) discriminatory content; (iii) criminal accusation presented as conclusive fact without substantiation; (iv) improper sharing of personal data or privacy violations; (v) content that doesn't address the experience on the project or that speaks on behalf of third parties. Reports based on disagreement with the content, a perception of unfairness, or personal preference do not constitute valid grounds for removal.
🔴 Reviews published on the platform reflect solely the personal opinions and experiences of their authors and do not represent the views of Worldpackers.
Best practices for writing a review
- Always try to remain impartial to ensure your reviews are fair and balanced;
- Reviews should be exclusively about the collaborative exchange facilitated by the Worldpackers platform;
- Focus on describing the experience you had, rather than unrelated activities and/or situations. Avoid making negative assumptions about other people — whether it's the host or anyone else who took part in the experience — and report only what you directly experienced during the collaborative exchange;
- Be transparent and honest, always keeping our Review Content Policy in mind;
- Make sure to write everything you think is important for other community members to know about your experience. After all, that's how they'll decide whether or not they want to have that collaborative exchange;
- Give suggestions for improvement to help the person receiving the review grow. For example:
- “I suggest communication be clearer, with more open dialogue to work through such-and-such points”
- Comment on what you liked and, for points you feel need improvement, use a feedback tone that conveys how you felt in the moments you're pointing out. Here are some examples:
- “I felt uncomfortable at such a moment because of such a reason.”
- “I felt disrespected for such and such a reason.”
After completing the experience, be sure to take a few minutes to write your review. Reviews left by Worldpackers members are an essential piece that helps us regulate the community in line with our Experience Quality and Safety Policy.
Keep in mind that if you have a negative experience, you can always reach out to our support team, okay? We're available seven days a week and will do our best to respond within 24 hours!
Deadline for leaving a review
Both traveler and host have 14 days after the end of the experience to leave a review. After this period, it is no longer possible to review the collaborative exchange.
We always value a fair community, so we do not make exceptions for reviews submitted outside the set time frame.
Even if the deadline for leaving your review has passed, know that our support team is always available to receive your feedback through our private channels.
Public response to a review
We understand that experiences are individual and subjective, leading to different perspectives. That's why we ask everyone in our community to be open to giving and receiving feedback with empathy.
That said, in addition to the public review on the platform, we also offer a space where you can respond to the review you received. This way, you can clarify your point of view about your experience or add any additional comments. Your response will be shown right below the review left by the other party, and any member of our community will be able to see your perspective on the experience you had.
Important: A public response to a review must also comply with our Review Content Policy. Otherwise, it may be removed.
Review Editing Rules
Editing a review is only allowed while the other party's review has not yet been published and within 14 days after the end of the experience. In other words, a review can only be edited if:
- It is within the 14-day period after the experience's departure date. Once this period has passed, the review becomes final and can no longer be changed by the user.
AND
- The other party has not yet submitted their own review. If the other party has already submitted their review, editing will be automatically locked, even if you're still within the 14-day period.
Why does this rule exist? Our system ensures that no user can edit the content of their own review after having seen the content of the other party's review. This helps prevent retaliatory reactions and preserves the integrity and honesty of both testimonials.
When requesting an edit to a review, both the text and the star rating can be freely changed, without restrictions on content or score. That's why it's important to carefully review your submission before sending it, since future edits will be subject to the conditions described above.
Deletion of reviews
Only travelers and hosts who actually took part in the collaborative exchange can leave a review. In other words, if the traveler didn't actually show up for the project and left or received a review, that review may be removed.
It's worth noting that travelers who don't show up for the experience may receive a 1-star no-show review. For more details, check our No-show Policy.
Aside from that, reviews will only be deleted if they don't comply with our Review Content Policy, specifically the violation categories listed here. That said, both the traveler and the host may request the deletion of their own review at any time, if they wish. Requests may be reviewed by our team before being processed. It's worth noting that, even after deletion, the review record may be kept internally by Worldpackers to ensure the security and integrity of records on each profile, in accordance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD), without being visible to other community members.
🔴 Attention: Deleting a review is a permanent and irreversible action. Once removed, it will not be possible to rewrite or publish a new review about that collaborative exchange.
In any case, we want to emphasize that reviews are extremely important to our travelers and hosts, and your feedback helps our community make informed decisions and supports the growth of those involved.
How to request the deletion of a review
To request the deletion of a review you believe violates our Review Content Policy, follow the steps below:
- Go to the reviews section on the platform and locate the review you want to report;
- Click Report review and select the reason that matches the violation you identified;
- Confirm the submission of your report.
Our team will review the case within 3 business days, though this timeframe may be extended under exceptional circumstances, and will communicate the decision by email, to the address registered on your account. If the review is deleted, the other party will also be notified. If the deletion request is not approved, the final decision will be communicated the same way, via email.
Report Integrity Policy
The review reporting tool is an important resource for maintaining the integrity of the Worldpackers community. For this reason, it must be used responsibly — exclusively to report genuine violations of our Review Content Policy, and not as a way to challenge reviews you simply disagree with or consider unfair.
Misuse of this tool goes against our Terms of Service and may result in measures such as warnings, temporary suspensions, or even deactivation of your profile on the platform. It's worth noting that penalties apply to abusive, fraudulent, repetitive, or bad-faith reports — not to every report that doesn't result in removal. If you're unsure whether a review violates our policies, we recommend always reviewing the Review Content Policy before proceeding with a report.
